Sustainability online seminar in partnership with Swire Properties

Experts from Honestly Green and Green Queen, two Hong Kong sustainability advocates of social and environmental change, were among the panelists taking part in weekly online seminars organised and presented by Swire Properties to raise greater public awareness of the issues.

Janice Leung Hayes, founder of social enterprise consultancy, Honestly Green, and Sonalie Figueiras, founder and editor-in-chief of Green Queen, an award-winning global sustainability and impact media platform, were among those taking part in discussions on three virtual webinars, titled “Discover Taikoo Place: Sustainability Lunchtime Talks” on March 18 and 25 and April 1. Swire Properties hosted the free online events in collaboration with Morning Studio — the branded content arm of South China Morning Post.

The online talks set out to explore sustainability initiatives developed by companies based at Taikoo Place, with the case studies led by Leung Hayes, Figueiras and students enrolled in The University of Hong Kong’s Impact Lab Course, using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as basis — a blueprint of 17 interlinked global targets such as “climate action”, “sustainable cities and communities” and “responsible consumption and production”, to be met by 2030, which will help “to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”. They were moderated by Angie Lau, founder and CEO of Forkast.News.

The first webinar focused on PALO IT, a B-corporation certified global innovation consultancy and Agile software development company, which is working to transform organisations for the betterment of the world by helping companies launch products and services, create new business models and prepare leadership and cultures for the future. Joining Lau for the discussion were Leung Hayes and Stanislas Bocquet, CEO and founder of PALO IT.

Guerlain, a renowned French perfume, cosmetics and skincare company owned by the conglomerate LVMH, which is committed to using a minimum of 90 per cent natural-origin ingredients in its make-up portfolio, was the subject of the second talk. Leung Hayes again took part in the discussions with Sincere Yung, Guerlain’s Hong Kong and Macau Brand General Manager.

The final webinar focused on the Singapore food chain SaladStop!, now expanding its reach across the Asia-Pacific region, which promotes healthy eating practices through sustainability goals and by encouraging greater personal responsibility. Katherine Desbaillets Braha, Co-owner/Director of SaladStop!, and Figueiras took part in the discussion.

Morning Studio produced and managed the talks — featuring speakers based in Hong Kong, and overseas — at SCMP’s studio in Causeway Bay. It used its total event solutions to produce the webinars streamed on widely identified webcast platforms, featuring customised superimposed overlays and speaker and project management, which achieved great results.

It used digital technologies, such as live polling, Q&A and chat room to boost audience interaction and engagement. In particular, viewers were able to question the experts using the in-app Q&A function during the panel discussions, after which the moderator asked the speakers to respond to some of these questions.

Morning Studio also developed bespoke marketing materials, from electronic direct mails to social media, to expand the reach of the series.
