Can We Compare Presidents?

Trying to grade presidential performance

The question seems inappropriate: it has seemed inappropriate always.

Every president encounters the context of the times wherein the presidency coincides. The greater variables are set by destiny.

[I will always picture GWB at the site of the fallen towers; I will always picture Obama the night when he walked out to announce that Osama bin Laden has been killed and buried at sea. Bill Clinton before them, I will remember for the day that the young American was to be whipped in an Asian country for possessing drugs. These were good people, humble, seeking to deal with unconscionable events in history. Each event changed them and us: they were shared experiences that built us into a stronger nation.]

I am hopeful, still. that P45 will rise to his defining moment and hopeful also that his moment in history is yet to occur.] In the end, character defines the person, regardless of their background or role in which they serve.

The only constants that could be ‘graded’ are related to accountability, capability, resilience.

P45 has been president for only eight months: under the circumstances mentioned above, what were our expectations exactly?

Did P45 have a dedicated crew of party-members that he felt were trustworthy to call on or to offer him support? Evidently, no. He called FoxNews to talk to someone about Climate Change.

People were so dissatisfied and critical of POTUS44 that they were willing to roll the dice and ‘give him a chance’ therefore, this is were we are.

Perhaps, future voting responsibility will be taken more seriously and approached more maturely than in the past. My impression now (more than ever) is that experience in politics or community service is a crucial part of the background of any presidential candidate.
