Tate’s rise to the top seems out of wack when you look at it from the outside of the internet world.

Maybe even for the ones who are in this weird “internet world”, but are not well-rounded in writing strategy or storytelling.

Andrew Tate is a very good storyteller and even though he doesn’t write (or at least he has never said he does), he does all the best practices of good writing in his storytelling.

The question now becomes:

What is he doing that I should?

When great authors come to your mind, who are they?

Let me guess, in order.

The last two are a long shot. It depends on the path that you’re on, really.

But I’m 100% sure you thought of JK Rowling and Stephen King. Especially after the subtitle of this section is named “Basic Novel Writing”.

And why do you think they come to mind?

Are they versatile? Not really. They write the same stuff over and over again with different characters. JK Rowling uses most of the same characters in all her novels, so that ain’t it.

I’ll tell you why.

They have understood the best practices in writing. After understanding them, they perfected them to the best of their abilities.

Clearly, both Rowling and King are in very different genres, but that doesn’t mean the basic principles changed. They’re just different people with different tastes and abilities.

I’m guessing Rowling wouldn’t be a great horror writer, but I bet that with the principles she’s learnt, she would be a better horror writer than 95% of horror writers.

I could go down a rabbit hole with all this “basic” novel writing, but I’m not going to.

I’m not gonna talk about the point of tension, climax, downturns and releases.
