How to Get Back to Work After the Pandemic

Come out of this pandemic swinging.

I have very little faith in any government’s ability to re-open the economy with any degree of efficiency or success. Government everywhere is too busy sticking their snouts in the trough to feed their ever-burgeoning selves to actually be able to re-open business.

Therefore, it is up to the private sector and the leaders in the private sector to figure out how to re-open business and get people back to work efficiently and successfully.

These are the attitudes business leaders are going to need in order to make sure the 22 million Americans that suddenly found themselves unemployed are able to get back to work.

For every week that businesses have been locked out of doing what they normally do, at worse it is going to take three weeks to recover from that lost week. No amount of stimulus money from the government can recover from the loss of revenue generation that was jerked to a halt by government bureaucrats that haven’t needed to worry about where their income is going to come from.

With a new normal coming, it is going to take new business attitudes in order to begin rebuilding.

At least in the short term.

Business, unlike the government, has to operate on a profit-based mindset. The simple-based business equation looks like this.

Revenue — Cost of Goods/Services = Gross Profit. Gross Profit — Operating Expenses = Net Profit.

Looking at that equation that every business has to keep in mind, you know that right now there is no such thing as profit. Profit is social distancing at the current time and it is going to take a lot of creativity to make profit come back.
